10-19 Architecture

Located on a prime lot in the Ocean Park neighborhood of Santa Monica, this 2018 renovation/addition maximizes a compact building footprint with spaces that extend outward and upward.  At ground level, steel structures frame completely open living spaces leading to a generous raised deck in front and a spacious private yard in back. Upstairs, the asymmetrically-pitched roof shelters dramatic cathedral-like bedrooms perched high above the street.  Large, geometrically-cut apertures open views in every direction.  With exquisite architectural detailing, the project transforms a formerly 600-square foot cottage into a thoroughly modern house for beach living.
