2522 Aiken Ave
Los Angeles, CA
2522 Aiken Ave brings bold forms and new life to an original 1930s bungalow. The remodeled 3-story structure provides 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms in an open floor plan. Sail-like steel/wood louver screens serve as a focal point for the street facade, giving guardrail protection and a visual buffer for the second floor. Bright, expansively-glazed living spaces draw in the outdoors on every level, and a double-height atrium in the kitchen/dining area forms the heart of the interior. At the back, the house hovers above the rear-sloping lot and wraps around a mature Ash, creating a tree house-like effect for adjacent spaces. The tree in turn provides shade for the new pool/spa and yard. From its interior spaces and its multiple decks, new house provides views of Rancho Park Golf Course, Century City, and the Santa Monica Mountains.
Under the direction of 10-19 Architecture, construction for 2522 Aiken completed in summer 2019.
