A project but also a beloved former home, Cushdon exemplifies 10-19 Architecture's approach toward residential development. Here, a deep familiarity with the site produces bold forms and spaces that enhance (without overwhelming) context, while thoughtful design and careful attention to detail create simultaneously striking yet warm architectural effect.
With a series of strategically placed new volumes, this project re-imagines an existing bungalow while leaving much of the original framing (and all of the site trees) intact. Providing 3 bedrooms in a footprint just under 2,000 sf, the house features glass facades, soaring interiors, and open living spaces integrated with the outdoors. The facade re-uses wood from the existing site fencing. Other colors and natural materials enrich an abstract, modern aesthetic.
