This new 3,700 SF house, nestled in a quiet pocket of Cheviot Hills (LA), is our latest self-built venture. Here, 5 angled steel-paneled walls stand sentinel-like around 2 glass doors opening onto a top floor deck. Translucent metal panels placed at building's edge in turn screen and shield the deck. Perforated, powder-coated, and individually shaped by hand, the curved aluminum panels gift the house an ethereal, effervescent appearance. Like a watercolor veil, the silvery bronze screen shimmers in the light, oscillating in color, brightness, and transparency according to the hour, the view angle, and the season at hand.
Inside, a well-honed blend of flowing open spaces, warm natural materials, and bespoke casework make anyone and everyone feel comforted and welcomed. A fully integrated (and surprising) guest retreat at the bottom level completes a picture of what is achievable in a thoroughly modern yet infinitely livable home.
